Ubud is situated in the center of Bali island  located one hour drive northeast of Bali's International Airport and 30 minutes from Sanur beach, 45 minutes to Kuta beach, and 90 Minues from jimbaran and Nusa Dua. Ubud village lies arround two- to three hundred meters above sea level and surrounded by rice fields, which makes it noticeably cooler than then other tourist destinations in Bali.

Ubud is famous for it's arts and artist of paintings, carvings, dancing with regularly nightly traditional dance performances regular performed in several stages around the village. Its popular in part today because it is the best place in Bali to break out of the tourist mode and get off the beaten path. Hotels are plentiful; from home stays and Indonesian guesthouses (losmen) to five stars are easily available to the foreign tourist.
